GOD TOLD THE ISRAELITES, THROUGH MOSES, at the foot of Mount Sinai: "If you will now listen to my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be a special treasure to me above all peoples, for the whole earth is mine" (Exodus 19:5). Israel was chosen by God as a special, distinct people, a people who enjoyed the heavenly truths revealed to them as a light to the world. Five hundred years after that event at Sinai, the Hebrews had little memory of their special treasure to God. The ten northern tribes under Jeroboam's reign were at war with Judah and Benjamin, under Rehoboam, for more than a decade. This war between blood brothers led them to clashes and power struggles, forgetting their identity with God. The Scriptures summarize this bloody period for the Israelites by saying: "There was constant war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam." In our times, God's children run the same risk of being divided if we forget who we are and what our mission is. Sadly, there are churches divided by internal struggles for power, by old grudges, by differing opinions, by cultural or racial discrimination. The problems the Israelites faced are not so different from ours. Just as the enemy divided the chosen people and led them to fight among themselves, we too run the risk of becoming divided if we pay attention to our differences. The Lord's messenger admonishes us: "The world looks with satisfaction at the disunity of Christians. Unbelievers rejoice. God desires a change among his people. Union with Christ and with one another is our only safeguard in these last days." Let us not give Satan the opportunity to point his finger at the members of our church, saying, "Behold, these who are under the standard of Christ hate one another. We need have nothing to fear from them, for they expend more energy fighting one another than fighting me" (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8, p. 251). I don't know your church. I don't know you either, but I know that together we can do something to unite our church: pray. Before we begin today's activities, I invite you to pray together for the unity of each church in particular and of the Adventist people in general. =================== SCRIPTURE EXAMPLES AND TEACHINGS Youth Morning Devotion 2022 Narrated by: Daniel Ramos From: Connecticut, USA ==================== || www.drministries.org || ====================
