Making “Kilauea Pahoehoe” Cold Process Soap Using the Fishnet Swirl
In this video, I use a real fishnet to swirl Lemon soap in an attempt to suggest lava. I also use a bent cardboard piece as a type of weir/spatula to help pour soap in layers. It is faster than spooning on the soap and it worked pretty well for my very liquid batter. This soap could also be called Lemon Lava since it is scented with Lemongrass and Litsea Cubeba essential oils. Pahoehoe is basaltic lava that has a smooth, billowy, undulating, or ropy surface. It is a shield-type volcano that makes up the southeastern side of the Big Island of Hawaii. On May 3, 2018, the volcano erupted dramatically, several hours after a magnitude-5.0 quake struck the Big Island.
