Devil May Cry 4 was released in 2008. Chronologically, the game takes place between Devil May Cry 3 and DMC 2. In 2015 the game was re-released as Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Like Devil May Cry 3's Special Edition, DMC4 SE adds a variety of new options along with Vergil, Trish, and Lady as playable characters. While Devil May Cry 4 builds upon the systems innovated and refined in the first three games, it also features a base campaign with two playable characters: Nero and Dante. Dante returns with all of his classic moves along with the style system introduced in DMC 3, whereas Nero plays quite differently.
