Phase 1: The Swift Strikes of Negative Energy Mister Negative is incredibly fast and agile. His primary attacks involve using his negative energy-infused sword. He'll unleash horizontal sweeping attacks of negative energy that you'll need to jump over to avoid. Staying close to him can limit this attack. He also uses vertical slams with his sword, sending out vertical waves of energy. These are easier to dodge using the circle button. Be wary of his Crush attack, indicated by a blue circle around him as he dashes forward with his sword held to the side. This attack cannot be parried, so you must dodge it, or swing away using R2. From a distance, Li might fire two negative energy beams from his hands, which are relatively easy to dodge. The best strategy in this phase is to stick close, use Web Strikes (which temporarily web him up for a free attack), and watch your Spider-Sense to parry his sword attacks. Normal combos and your Venom powers will deal damage effectively. Phase 2: The Shielded Demon Once you deplete his health bar in the first phase, a cutscene will play, and Li will summon a large demon and envelop himself in a large negative energy shield, making him immune to all attacks, including your Venom powers. During this phase, your abilities will be temporarily disabled. Your focus should be on dodging and parrying the swirling horizontal and vertical negative energy slashes he sends out. Swinging around the arena with R2 can help you avoid these attacks. Once your Venom abilities recharge, you'll need to use a power like Venom Punch or Chain Lightning (L1 + Square) to break through the shield. Hitting Li while the shield is down will cause it to drop. In this second phase, Li's sword attacks will largely be the same as before, but he will now chain three attacks together, requiring careful dodging or swinging away. Phase 3: Relentless Aggression After taking down his health for the second time, Li will bring his shield back up at the start of the third and final phase. He doesn't introduce new attacks but becomes significantly more aggressive and direct, chaining his previously used attacks in quick succession. If you've mastered the parry system, this aggressive style can be used to your advantage, allowing you to counter and strike repeatedly. Otherwise, focus on avoiding his combos and waiting for openings to attack. Continue to use your Venom abilities strategically to deal damage. Eventually, when you get close enough, a Triangle prompt will appear, allowing Miles to jump onto the demon. Confronting Inner Demons: Following the cutscene, you'll be back on the ground, facing waves of standard demon enemies.
