Xi tells Trump 'hard-earned' easing of North Korea tensions needs to continue

시진핑, 트럼프와 통화 "한반도 긴장 완화계기 계속 이어가야" President Xi Jinping reportedly spoke on the phone with his American countepart Donald Trump on Tuesday. The Chinese leader described the current easing of tensions on the Korean peninsula as "hard-earned," that all parties need to continue working towards dialogue and negotiation. According to China's state broadcaster CCTV, Xi stressed that Beijing is willing to maintain close communication, mutual trust and respect with Washington and the international community in dealing with Pyongyang. He is also said to have commented on the positive progress in Washington-Beijing relations over the last year, that it brought benefits especially in the economic and trade sectors. The details of the call have yet to be confirmed by the White House. Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary, Jim Mattis, on his way to the Vancouver summit on Tuesday, reiterated that military options need to be made apparent as well... to help reinforce diplomatic efforts.
