Make sure you have scanned copies of everything before you start the process. The update should be completed online via the OCI Miscellaneous Service at https://ociservices.gov.in within three months of receiving your new passport. • Choose “Passport Particulars Updation” for a passport-only update; this is free and does not require a new OCI card to be issued. • You may travel to/from India with your current OCI card, new passport, and (where relevant) old passport even while the update is being processed. Common Mistakes to Avoid • Do not send any physical documents for a simple passport update—this process is fully online. • Double-check that you are not required to re-issue (physical submission and fee) your OCI card: this is required only if you were a minor (under 20) at the time of first OCI issuance and are now updating after turning 20, or after turning 50 years old. • Submit separate applications if updating both passport and address, as only one update per application is allowed.
