Good morning everyone. Welcome to our time of adoration followed by the Holy Mass for Friday of the 2nd Week in Ordinary Time. Our reading from 1 Samuel continues with the relationship between David and Saul and Saul's jealousy over David. Many times he plotted to kill him and today we see that the tables are reversed and David has the opportunity to kill Saul. He does cut off the corner of Saul's cloak which symbolically took away his authority and kingship. And yet David respected Saul as the Lord's anointed and would not kill him. Think of the times we have conflict with others. Do you try and take revenge upon them or lift them up to the Lord in prayer? David shows us how to treat others who are all children of God. In our Gospel, Jesus chooses the twelve from all those who followed him and called them apostles. They were given a special role in salvation history. Remember that we are all children of God our Father and we have each been given a special role to build up the kingdom of God. We do not need to look at our neighbor and think that they have more gifts to offer to the Lord. We each have our gifts and the Lord calls each one of us in different ways. Let us pray, reflect and act on the works that God calls us to do. Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine! The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 57: "Have mercy on me, God, have mercy."
