Russia’s first strike of 2026 on Ukraine’s Kyiv kills 2, medical facilities hit

An overnight Russian air attack on Kyiv region killed two people, Ukraine’s authorities said on Jan 5. Video captures the explosion on Ukrainian capital in what appeared to be the first deadly Russian strike on Kyiv this year. Ukraine's State Emergency Service said the strike set ablaze a medical facility in the Obolonskyi district . Firefighters evacuated 25 people from the medical facility in which one got killed and three others were injured. Russia has repeatedly attacked Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones during the nearly four-year-old war.
