Freddie Roach ‘disappointed’ with Ben Davison’s instructions to Tyson Fury during Deontay Wilder fight. Freddie Roach is open to becoming Tyson Fury’s full-time coach after questioning the management of the heavyweight’s current trainer, Ben Davison. Fury linked up with Davison after a two-year exile from boxing and the pair were unlucky not to cap off a remarkable comeback with a world title against Deontay Wilder. Roach was invited into Fury’s corner for the night as a cut-man, after Davison had moved his fighter’s camp to the American’s gym in Los Angeles. But Roach did not seem too impressed with Davison’s corner work, and questioned why he gave the same instructions to his featherweight, Isaac Lowe, as to Fury. ‘I’m very aggressive and I was a little bit disappointed in the corner work,’ Roach told FOX Sports. ‘Ben was telling him to feint and step back. Why are you telling him to step back? Let this guy fight, he can get rid of this guy. I think he was just very safe.’ To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video He added: ‘Ben gave the exact same instructions to the 126lbs fighter as he did the heavyweight fighter. ‘They are not the same and his instructions were the same and choreographed for both guys. I was a little disappointed. ‘He did hurt Wilder a couple of times and I was disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to finish him.’ Frank Warren blasts Eddie Hearn for being a hypocrite over integrity claims Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren reveals possible date for Deontay Wilder rematch Eddie Hearn to 'quit boxing' if Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder goes 12 rounds Rumours that Davison was about to be muscled out by Roach were rife during the build-up to the fight. And Roach seemed to suggest he did want to become Fury’s main coach when asked if he would want to be the main voice in the corner in the next fight. He said: ‘Possibly. Me and Tyson and his brothers spoke about it, we said let’s all go home and enjoy Christmas, and we’ll have a meeting. I told Tyson maybe I can help him along the way.’ MORE: Frank Warren hits back at Eddie Hearn questioning his integrity
