Three terrorists were gunned down and two civilians sustained injuries in an encounter that broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Friday morning. Security forces had earlier launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Kakapora area of the south Kashmir district after inputs of the presence of terrorists there, officials said. The operation turned into an encounter when the terrorists retaliated with gunfire, he added. The terrorists gunned down were involved in the attack on the house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anwar Khan in which a constable was killed, Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said. Arms and weapons were recovered from the terrorists gunned down, he added. He also congratulated the police and security forces for killing the attackers in less than 24 hours. The civilians who were injured and later sent to hospital have been identified as Ishrat Jan (25) and Ghulam Nabi Dar (42), both residents of Pulwama's Samboora, news agency PTI said quoting officials.
