A day after the BJP filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Mamata Banerjee for failing to declare six criminal cases while filing nomination papers, the West Bengal chief minister appears to be in trouble again. The Election Commission took suo motu note of CM Mamata Banerjee's announcement of "free door-step ration delivery" on Tuesday. Purulia district authorities have been asked to send a report on the matter to the commission. The EC has inquired as to whether Mamata Banerjee has promised any new public welfare projects, which would be a breach of the state's existing model code of conduct (MCC). To investigate the matter, the election body has requested unedited videography of Banerjee's public meeting.
