Owl Paper Circuit Triggered by Light Sensor on Photon

I've been experimenting with the Particle Photon in order to create a wifi-connected book that uses real-time data to help tell a story. While this effect could have been achieved with an Attiny85 or a Chibitronics effects sticker, my goal was to learn how to use my own data to trigger an event on a Photon. This video depicts a light sensor on one Photon triggering a web hook (and Particle function) on a second Photon, which then lights up artwork connected to a paper circuit.
