Syrian opposition's chief negotiator resigns

The chief negotiator of Syria's main opposition, Mohammed Alloush, has resigned over what he has called the failure of peace talks. Alloush, from the Saudi-based High Negotiations Committee (HNC), said the peace talks were a "waste of time", as none of the opposition demands were met. The HNC has for months expressed its frustration about the progress of the UN-backed Geneva talks. The Syrian government does not recognize the HNC's right to speak on behalf of all opposition factions.
