(2 Aug 2019) The US envoy for North Korea Stephen Biegun met Friday with his counterparts from Japan and South Korea in Bangkok for North Korea-related discussions. Biegun posed and shook hands with Do-hoon Lee of South Korea and Kenji Kanasugi of Japan before heading into their meeting. Talks between the US and the North have been stalled since the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's in February in Hanoi that broke up over disagreements about sanctions relief and what actions the North would have to take in exchange. But Trump and Kim agreed to restart the talks when they met at the Demilitarised Zone separating the two Koreas in June. At the time, US officials spoke of the negotiations resuming in a matter of a few weeks.
