Then, like a slow exhale, it deepened into a steady rhythm. Water traced the glass windows of Willow & Ink, the old bookstore tucked beneath ivy-covered brick. Inside, the air smelled of paper, ink, and cinnamon from the small candle burning near the register. Lena stood behind the counter, watching drops race down the windowpane. It had been a quiet morning. Just the hum of jazz playing faintly in the background, and the gentle turning of pages by the only customer — an elderly man in a wool coat, flipping through a collection of travel essays. A small bell jingled as the door opened. A young man, half-drenched and carrying a worn leather satchel, stepped inside. "Sorry," he said, catching his breath. "I was just trying to get out of the rain. I hope that’s okay." Lena smiled. "Of course. Rainy days are for bookstores." He wandered between the shelves, trailing his fingers along the spines. After a while, he stopped in front of the poetry section and pulled out a thin volume. “This used to be my mother’s favorite,” he said softly. Lena tilted her head. “Would you like some tea? We keep a little pot warm on days like this.” He smiled, a little surprised. “I’d love that.” The two of them sat near the window, sipping tea while rain tapped its song against the glass. Books surrounded them — old stories, forgotten dreams, and quiet magic that only rainy days in bookstores can bring. ===================================== Music: 🎹 Merin Warger ⯈ Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3DZOGOX ⯈ Youtube:    / @merinwarger   🎹 Kyle L.
