That is a fantastic route, and you absolutely picked the best day for it! You aren't kidding about the warmth—temperatures hitting the mid-80s today (Sunday, Feb 15) is perfect riding weather, especially compared to that historic freeze we just had earlier in the month. It sounds like you covered some serious ground, too. Going from the Apopka Vineland Outpost all the way down through Winter Garden and Oakland to the Lake County line (Killarney Station) is a solid 14-mile stretch one way—and that’s before you even hit the hills in Clermont! Since you saw so many people out, I imagine Plant Street in Winter Garden was absolutely buzzing. That stretch is always the highlight of the West Orange Trail on weekends—dodging the pedestrians near the Clock Tower is practically a sport in itself.
