Israeli airstrikes pound Gaza on eve of expanded military operations

Israel has warned that it is “expanding its activities” before an expected full ground invasion. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an Israel Defense Force (IDF) spokesman, said aerial attacks had been targeting Hamas tunnels as well as other targets. “In addition to the attacks that we carried out in recent days, ground forces are expanding their activity this evening,” he said. “The IDF is acting with great force ... to achieve the objectives of the war.” Israeli troops have gone into Gaza on the previous two nights, officials have claimed.
