The Night of Ideas- Arusha, Tanzania

We joined 3 female and 3 male creatives as they share their interpretation of the theme "WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE IN AFRICA TODAY?" through Visual Art, Dance, Poetry and Music, as we converse about the developed and developing identity perceptions - of Africa/Africans - among locals and visitors. Through this theme, we discussed questions like; How are Africans preserving their culture in the modernization of things? What authenticity is being left behind in the name of "what sells?" How does one identify as African? Is it by that one Kitenge outfit we all have or our shared perception of the past, present and future? What then is considered "un-African" and why is that so? Is there ONE way to be African? AND SO MUCH MORE! Curating for La Nuit Des IDees in collaboration with Alliance Francaise Arusha was a FANTASTIC experience! A massive thank you to them and @thehive_inc for making it all look so effortless! THANK YOU to MAEMBE VITALI @maem To get more information on what was exhibited and what went down, check out my Instagram page @theannoyinartist What a TIME OUT! What a TURN OUT!
