Of all time And today we are looking at 101 Facts from THIS Classic INDIANA JONES MOVIE The opening scene in the Peruvian jungle was filmed on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, where Steven Spielberg returned to film Jurassic Park (1993). The first shot of the film was inspired by Spielberg's earliest days as a moviemaker. Steven Spielberg asked producer Frank Marshall to find a mountain that looked like the Paramount logo. Marshall had to drive around the whole island for days until he found one. Actors considered for the role of Indiana Jones included Sam Elliott, Michael Biehn, Sam Shepard, David Hasselhoff and Tom Selleck. Harrison Ford was cast less than three weeks before principal photography began. George Lucas still wasn’t sure about the casting of Harrison Ford as he wanted to cast an unknown actor for the role of the archaeologist.
