SOUNDBITE: (English) Robert Brinkley, British High Commissioner to Islamabad: "Yesterday there was an incident on the border which led to the loss of lives and we are very sorry at any loss of life. I'm sure that incident will now be carefully investigated. We are very concerned about the federally administered tribal areas because they are being used by al-Qaida and it's allies to plot terrorist attacks in other parts of the world - including my country, in Britain - as well as to do damage here in Pakistan and Afghanistan. And it's very important that their space to do that plotting must be more and more reduced and finally eliminated." 28. Cutaway of cameraman 29. Reporters STORYLINE: Funerals of 11 paramilitary troops, who Pakistan's military say were killed in an airstrike by the US-led coalition, were held on Wednesday in the northwestern city of Peshawar. The airstrike along the volatile Afghan border late on Tuesday followed a reported clash between Afghan forces and Taliban militants in the same area. The Taliban said that eight of its fighters died in the skirmish. A Pakistan army statement said the incident in Pakistan's Mohmand tribal region "had hit at the very basis of cooperation" between the two countries in the "war on terror". The army has launched a strong protest and reserved "the right to protect our citizens and soldiers against aggression," it said. AP Television footage showed a large crater in the ground and damaged trees in the area in Mohmand Agency where the airstrike allegedly happened. A spot of blood on a rock and apparent debris from the explosion was also seen in the area. AP Television footage showed injured men being treated in hospital.
