Brabham-BMW BT52 F1 - Flames!

In this video: The most powerful formula one engine ever made! This 1983 Brabham BT52 is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that was built by BMW (M12). On high boost, the engine was capable of producing over 850 bhp! (they usually only made that kind of power during qualifying). In the grand prix races it was detuned to about 640 bhp to reduce the risk of blowing up the engine or breaking the turbo. The same BMW M12 engine was also used in the 1986 and 1987 seasons (in the Brabham BT55 and BT56). The BT56 version had a power output of approximately 850 bhp in race trim. In the qualifying rounds the boost was turned up even more. Its estimated maximum power was 1400 bhp! ...and oh yes, it shoots massive flames when it downshifts! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event: Historic Grand Prix 2017 (Zandvoort, The Netherlands) Driver: Jan Lammers (NL) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Camera: Sony HDR-CX625 Mic: Sony ECM-XYST1M --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
