DVD playthrough of menu and special features TITLE: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation YEAR: 1989 RELEASE: 2008 "Special Edition" DVD - widescreen (16:9) Our Christmas Celebration continues with what is undoubtably one of the great classic Christmas movies. Some people watch this every year.. I used to, until I found out I already had the entire thing memorized so I don't even need to watch anymore! I have to give this DVD release a "B-" rating, though. It barely fits the definition of a B rating... obviously some effort went into the packaging and the artwork. The menus are nicely animated.. .snow falling on the main menu, electrical shock issues on the scene selections, etc. When it comes to special features, there is basically DVD Commentary, a short list of cast & crew and the theatrical trailer. So again - barely fits the B tier DVD... but am happy to assign it as the quality of the transfer and pictures does deserve it.
