Siddhartha by Herman Hesse: Learn to Read a Book a Week (Headphones & Full Screen) w/Alan Watts
Dear Reader Welcome to Herman Hesse’s Dear Dear Reader, Welcome to Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha, in the Visions by the SCE method of Reading. With this you read every word, but I ask you to commit 30 minutes at a stretch, which is half an episode, but preferably watch the whole 60 minutes, the way you would an episode of your favorite Netflix show. Trust me, this is like magic. Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha is a seminal work which communicated the first parts of oriental mythology to the West in this incredibly insightful yet simple story. As someone who took many years to develop a reading and spiritual practice, this is something I’m doing to help others who also found it a challenge. I have a bit of a unique technique, and while there is a full speed reading version, this is at a normal soled and uses a scientific methodology from the Huberman Lab’s at Stanford (link below) that “resets” your brain every 20 minutes, allowing you to read much quicker, retain more and with much less fatigue. I have intentionally kept this slow (though it's still pretty quick). The voices of the narrators will change, as will the pace, as I'm reading it with you, and adjusting in real time. Artificial intelligence will only take you so far, and I consider the Visions of the SCE method to be a new art form, which is better experienced firsthand than any description I could articulate. Every 15-20 minutes you’re given a 5 minute break. Let your mind relax at those times, make sure your eyes are closed and allow your breath to be relaxed. Don’t try to read the words, all you have to do is follow the blue highlighted word. Trust the process, you’ll be amazed.
