Maywa Denki + Bye Bye World spank the new Auris [Video]

On August 20th, the art unit Maywa Denki and Bye Bye World, produced by Nobumichi Tosa, performed "Spanking Orchestra," a performance that used the new Auris as a musical instrument. This was made possible through Toyota Marketing Japan's special sponsorship of the Daikanyama Art Street, an art event held in Daikanyama to coincide with the launch of the new Auris. In addition to Maywa Denki + Bye Bye World, the event also featured collaborative works between the new Auris and artists. Before the performance began, Maywa Denki President and CEO Nobumichi Tosa introduced the performance, saying, "The idea behind this performance was to turn the car into a musical instrument by smacking it. However, smacking a new Toyota car is quite nerve-wracking." After the performance, President Tosa seemed relieved, saying, "It seems there were no scratches."
