This month, we're looking at these tree planting projects: 00:00 Intro 00:27 Ethiopia 1:03 Maine 1:41 England 2:40 Plant a Tree Day This month we're wrapping up our Ethiopia reforestation project that took place in the Amhara national regional state, where 150,000 trees were planted to help restore the degraded forest landscape, improve the microclimate and ecosystem services and rehabilitate the local environment. Our Ethiopia project also has an important social impact, since local youth will benefit from the sales of seedlings, and local communities will have additional income from beekeeping and grass for livestock. Our community-based project in Maine has just begun and will be planting 5,000 trees over the next months into the spring of 2022. Benefits of this project include erosion control around a nearby mountain stream and avoiding nutrient loading into the stream. Another benefit is the increase in carbon sequestration compared to the current grassland landscape. Our reforestation project in England will be planting 12,000 trees will take place across the county of Devon which, despite being a predominantly rural landscape, has only about 10% tree coverage. due to the region's decline in treescape over the past decades. This project will help through a program of growing, planting, and nurturing 250,000 replacement trees. Finally, we're very excited to talk about our Plant a Tree Day campaign, where we've organized 60 global events to engage with local communities, so far we've planted 3,000 trees and engaged with over 300 volunteers.
