Hot plugging refers to adding components to a system while the system is running -- or hot -- and without causing any interruptions to it. Hot plugging is usually used for expanding storage, or adding capabilities to a system. Hot pluggable devices range from mice, to keyboards, to external storage drives, to printers, and any other USB device.
