Scams in Assam: Agriculture Officer sent on 4-day police remand; Ex-SMCH superintendent arrested

Assam is in the scam map of the country as reports of numerous scams have surfaced across the state lately. Agriculture Officer Mrigen Haloi who was recently arrested for his involvement in the APSC cash-for-job scam was today sent to a 4-day police remand by the Gauhati High court. He will be produced before the court on May 18. A similar incident of scam came to light following the arrest of ex-superintendent of Silchar Medical College and Hospital Dr. Anindya Sundar Baishya by Silchar Police last night for his alleged involvement in a Rs 3 crore scam. Sunder was arrested based on an FIR filed by present College Principal Dr. Babul Bezbaruah on April 17.
