Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2022 Hyundai Tucson and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the CURT factory prep seven-pole kit. Now if your Hyundai Tucson is prepped to have trailer wiring connected up to it, this seven-pole is gonna be extremely easy to get installed. It's especially easy if you're doing it at home. There's a lot of different kits that are very difficult to get into place on certain vehicles, but as long as you have that factory connector, which is gonna be right up behind our bumper piece here, you look up there, ours was wrapped with blue tape so you can see it. But the factory connectors there, this kit's gonna plug right into it. All you need to do is find a place to mount the converter box in there and put a fuse in place and then put your seven-pole on your hitch. This kit is gonna give you your seven functions. It's gonna give you your standard four, which your ground, your stop and turn signals, your running light signals, your brake signal, reverse lockout, and your 12 volt accessory. Now when you pair it with a long bracket, we did a little bit of customization to this one. We put a little 90 degree bend in it. It's a no drill bracket, it clamps right on your hitch receiver and then we we inchesre able to mount our seven-pole bracket up to it. The seven-pole bracket and the long bracket do not come with your kit so you can pick those up on our website. Now the converter box that's wired in line with this kit along with the fuse, are designed to protect the wiring on the vehicle as well as on the trailer. What can happen in some setups, especially if you're pulling an older trailer, you can have some back feed from the wiring if it's misfired on the trailer, come back at the vehicle and affect the wiring on the vehicle. That converter box and fuse is designed to protect the vehicle and the trailer. Now that we've gone over those details, let's go ahead and show you how easy it is to get installed. To begin our installation, you're gonna need to be behind your driver's side rear wheel in the wheel well. We'll have this taped up. This is how it was taped from the factory. This is going to be our factory plug. So we'll just take a knife, we'll cut this tape back and it looks like there's zip tie back there too. Cut that zip tie, peel it off, and then we'll have this little clip that we'll need to push and then pull back on this dummy plug. You can throw this away 'cause this is what we're gonna connect to. And we're gonna take our seven-pole plug, make this connection. And what I might do is I may wrap this after we're all finished up. I may wrap this with some electrical tape. You can do that. It just helps to protect some of these connections and we're gonna need to take our converter box to get it mounted up somewhere. This piece of pinch weld is gonna be a great spot for that. So we'll use the included self-tapping screw and get that mounted right there. Now when you make this connection, you want to be sure to leave the fuse out of the fuse holder because what can happen is you can end up shortening out the fuse and then you'd have to get another one. So by doing it this way we know that our fuse is safe and not gonna get damaged. I'm just gonna swing this up and we're eventually going to take some zip ties and tie all this stuff up here to this factory wiring where it's mounted against this plastic panel so that it's out of the way, it's safe. Now to get our seven-pole mounted up on the back of our vehicle, you want to pick up a long bracket. I just put a small bend in it here at 90 degrees so that it can kick it out. And then you want to pick up a seven-pole bracket too. It'll bolt right to the top of it. That way we can get our seven-pole installed. We'll thread our harnesser here, connect it up to our plug, make sure it clicks and then put it back into place. You will have to supply your own hardware to get this mounted up, but that's not a huge deal 'cause I like to use stainless steel hardware anyway so that we don't have to worry about this rusting. Now we can put our fuse in place and once we get this done, we're going to go ahead and test out our wiring before we get this all wrapped up 'cause we wanna make sure it's working properly.
