WABDR 2.0 | Official Documentary Film

It’s been 15 years since the very first BDR — the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route — was released. And ever since, we’ve been collecting every trail shift, reroute, and terrain update for a major refresh. Today, that update is finally here. We’re unveiling all-new GPX tracks, a brand-new printed map, and a short film featuring the BDR founders riding the updated WABDR in its newest form. The Washington BDR is a multi-day off-pavement adventure built for dual-sport and ADV riders. Starting at the Oregon border along the Columbia River, the route immediately climbs into the South Cascades, skirting the base of 12,276’ Mt. Adams before continuing north. The central section explores the dry eastern foothills of the Cascades, crossing several sub-ranges with optional expert-level rocky and rutted segments. From there, the route cuts across the Entiat and Chelan Mountains, drops toward Lake Chelan, and pushes into the rugged beauty of the North Cascades. We have introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010. Routes can be downloaded from our website at www.ridebdr.com Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry. Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling. Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.
