In Weinstein's hometown of New York,… police are carrying out a review to determine if there are any additional complaints against one of the most powerful studio executives in Hollywood. Though it said a complaint is yet to be filed, the NYPD is looking into an allegation of sexual assault from 2004. It's also reviewing recently reported claims by alleged victims Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, among others, encouraging anyone else with information on the matter to come forward. Meanwhile, the scandal is spreading to the other side of the Atlantic, with the Metropolitan Police in London saying it has received an allegation of sexual assault in the English capital in the 1980s. The case was referred to the Met by Merseyside police, which received the report on Wednesday, and it will be assessed by officers from the child abuse and sexual offences command. A few British actresses have also publicly accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct, with Kate Beckinsale among the latest to speak out. The film producer has been strongly denying all allegations against him through his spokeswoman. In other developments, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,… which hosts the Oscars,… are to hold emergency talks on Saturday to consider Weinstein's future role.
