The most common place where Elvis would introduce new songs into his set list, was usually an opening night of a Las Vegas engagement, and there were several good reasons for this. Firstly, any rehearsals that Elvis and the band undertook were almost always in the days leading up to a Las Vegas season. Secondly, the intense amount of shows in a short space of time, usually 52 shows in four weeks, allowed any kinks discovered to be worked through before he went on tour. Thirdly, as Vegas and Tahoe were the only place that Elvis utilised the benefits of a full orchestra, it was the only place to see if an arrangement really worked on stage by gauging audience responses. Elvis' sixth Las Vegas engagement which began on 26 January was no different, as Elvis introduced six songs to his set list. Elvis entered the stage that Wednesday evening wearing his "White Pyramid" suit for the very first time and would become one of his most famous, as it was featured on the front cover of the multi-Platinum selling "Madison Square Garden" album.
