Building A Log Cabin | Ep. 18 | The walls are starting to go up!

Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey! In this episode, we start to raise our walls higher! The next layer of logs we have to raise must have 3 notches in them because of the middle girder on our first floor. We thought it would be extra challenging to ensure all 3 notches were flush and tight, but it turned out to be easier than expected! We didn't film the 2nd of the 2 because Nick's mom came to visit that day and helped out with the notching. Thanks for the help mom! After that, we needed 2 more floor joists to extend our porch northward. More details to come as to why we are doing that! We also add a brace under this porch extension. Music: bensound.com
