Date: 29th Jan 2015 17:00 Location: Jasola (Between Okhla and Tughlakabad) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- On July 14, 2014, the New-Delhi-Mumbai AC Premium Special Rajdhani was inaugurated, making Mumbai the first city to have three dedicated Rajdhanis connecting it to the national capital Delhi. This train has a dynamic pricing system where cost is directly proportional to the demand. On the day of its inaugural, Railway officials estimated a 33% increase in profit as compared to its static priced counterpart, the reigning king, 12951/52 Mumbai Rajdhani express! Normally this train departs New Delhi at 1445 hours, but due to a technical snag at Palwal, to be precise, the OHE wire had snapped, the trains were delayed and the premium was pushed into the slot just after the other two Rajdhanis. So the stage was set for a back-to-back show of power! First to come, was of course the 12952 New Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani express. Whatever be the circumstances, you can bet on this one any day, will never disappoint you! Burned the tracks at a thrilling 113 kmph. Now that's not its best, but is rare inside Delhi for any train! GZB WAP-7 #30283 was doing the honors. Second in line was the 12954 August Kranti Rajdhani Express. Given that the train starts from Hazrat Nizamudin, 108 kmph is definitely not child's play since the trains originating from New Delhi have a head start of 40 kmph when they reach NZM. Loco was GZB WAP-7 #30244. The third was the premium, and the fastest of the lot for the day at 118 kmph. Vadodra WAP-5 #30074 was in the lead. Originally started as a non-stop service between New Delhi and Mumbai, it now has two stops in the form of Kota and Vadodara. But still lesser than 12951/52 's 5 and 12953/54 's 14, and it subsequently went on to overtake August Kranti Rajdhani that particular day! But it's a long way to go for this young kid, to catch up with the king 12951/52 Rajdhani Express! PS: A TKD WDP-4B can be heard starting up at the beginning of the video!
