SOUNDBITE: (English) Terje Larsen, UN Special envoy to Middle East "We - the US Consul General, the Russian, the European and the UN special envoys - met this morning with Chairman Arafat to discuss the current dangerous situation and urged them to take vigorous steps to combat terrorism and enforce the Palestinian Authority's ceasefire orders. These steps should be matched with reciprocity by the Israelis in full compliance with existing agreements including immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces and security personnel from Area A." 11. Larsen, Moratinos and other delegates head to car STORYLINE: Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met with Likud cabinet ministers and other party members at their headquarters in the Knesset on Monday. He reiterated that there would be no Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian Territories until their key demands had been met. He outlined three points for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, calling upon him to end the violence, dismantle the terror organisations and hand over the murderers of Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi. He also claimed Israeli security forces had proof that Palestinian security forces had co-operated in smuggling one of Zeevi's murderers back into Palestinian controlled territory after the shooting. In Gaza, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat met a delegation that included the E-U special envoy to the region, Miguel Moratinos, the U-N Special envoy Terje Larsen, U-S Consul General Ronald Schlicher, and his Russian counterpart Andrei Vdovin. After the meeting they issued a joint statement urging the Palestinian leader to take urgent and vigorous action to combat terrorism and enforce the current ceasefire.
