Country music legend Mel McDaniel called Doc Holiday a magician in the studio. Here Doc carved up a classic rock song titled "Brandy" to give it a completely new direction. He called on J. D. Hawkins from the band UDIG to give it that soulful approach. J.D. had never heard the new arrangement until that moment in the studio, so she had about 10 minutes to figure out the new arrangement of the song she had lived with the original arrangement for over 25 years. Being the professional she is, she walked into that studio, that day and Doc put her right in the middle of that track. J.D. sang it with so much emotion, that halfway through the song Doc turned to her husband "Hawk" and said "she has become Brandy telling her story "
