PAKISTAN vs AUSTRALIA 1st T20 LIVE MATCH COMMENTARY | PAK vs AUS CRICKET MATCH LIVE Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the 1st T20 International match between Pakistan and Australia. I’m Ajay Pal Singh, and I will shortly be joined by my co-commentator Darpan Tikiya, who along with Raju Khariya, will bring you all the live updates from this exciting contest. Australia (Playing XI): Travis Head (c), Matt Short, Matt Renshaw, Cameron Green, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen, Josh Philippe (wk), Xavier Bartlett, Jack Edwards, Adam Zampa, Mahli Beardman Pakistan (Probable XI): Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha (c), Mohammad Nawaz, Khawaja Nafay (wk), Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi / Naseem Shah, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed Preview by Mohammad Anab Pakistan and Australia begin their three-match T20I series on Thursday, with the opening match in Lahore, which will play a crucial role in preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Although there have been doubts regarding Pakistan’s participation in the mega event, those concerns are expected to be resolved within the next 3–4 days. For Pakistan, this series comes at a perfect time as they look to finalize their combinations, with most of their World Cup squad already available. Several senior players are returning, strengthening both the batting and bowling units. Pakistan are taking this series very seriously, as their entire World Cup squad is available. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who had to leave the Big Bash League (BBL) midway last month due to a knee injury, is making his return. There will also be significant focus on former captain Babar Azam, who endured a difficult BBL season with the Sydney Sixers. It remains to be seen whether Pakistan will use him in the top three or push him down the middle order. Interestingly, Haris Rauf is not part of this squad or the World Cup squad, despite having an excellent BBL season with the Melbourne Stars. Pakistan will rely heavily on their pace attack to exploit early movement, while their spinners are expected to dominate the middle overs on a surface known for rewarding smart variations. Their strong batting depth and familiarity with local conditions provide added confidence, especially at a venue where Pakistan have enjoyed consistent success. Notably, Pakistan are unbeaten in their last three bilateral T20I series. Australia arrive with a rotated squad, as several key players are unavailable. Big names such as Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, and Glenn Maxwell are missing from this series. The Australian team has already announced their playing XI. Captain Mitchell Marsh, along with Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis, will miss the first T20I due to late arrival from BBL commitments. In Marsh’s absence, Travis Head will lead the side. Attention will be on Cameron Green, who hasn’t played T20 cricket since August 2025, having focused solely on Ashes preparation. Surprisingly, Steve Smith, despite a brilliant BBL season, is neither part of this squad nor the World Cup squad. Young fast bowler Mahli Beardman, a protégé of Australian legend Dennis Lillee, will also be in the spotlight. Though yet to make his T20I debut, he impressed during the BBL with title winners Perth Scorchers. Beardman and Jack Edwards are both set to make their international debuts. Additionally, Matt Renshaw, who made his Test debut in 2016, will finally get the opportunity to play his first T20I on Thursday in Lahore.
