Suspect critical after officer-involved shooting in Las Vegas

A suspect is in critical condition following an officer-involved shooting at an apartment complex on Decatur near Flamingo in Las Vegas. The incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. when officers arrived at the Bella Vita Apartment complex for reports of a suspect who was allegedly attempting to carjack a victim while threatening him with a knife. Capt. Ryan Wiggins stated that officers ordered the suspect to surrender, but the suspect did not comply. A physical altercation ensued, during which the suspect reportedly brandished a knife at officers, prompting one officer to discharge his firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
