This is the very first video I ever edited for a television production class, way back in Spring 1998 for Riverside Community College. The assignment was to produce a five-minute news segment for the school-produced 'Inland Valley Magazine', and if memory serves me correctly, it had to be about something local in the Riverside County area and I had no idea what kind of story to do. My classmate and friend at the time, who was also named Josh, suggested I could do a piece on this restaurant, Ciao Bella, where he was a waiter. Apart from the choppy editing and strange voiceovers from me, as well as its general infomercial-y aspects, this piece won me my very first award at the Lemmys, an awards show that celebrated the very best of the worst stories produced, which in retrospect was a little insulting and hurtful. The award in question was the 'Like I Care' award, given because of my odd interviewer inserts during the piece where I am writing on the notepad. I would go on to a brief but interesting career writing and producing for the Lemmys, but that's another story... This piece was recorded straight from the original telecast of 'Inland Valley Magazine', which aired on Charter Communications Channel 50. The intro was written by me the very day they shot in studio.
