During the Kyle Shanahan press conference last night, he was about as communicative, open and honest as I’ve ever heard him and I give him credit for that. He said “I always feel like I let Trey down.” You want Shanahan to take accountability? He did that. He answered questions, explained the 49ers thinking and part of that was the Niners’ original plans for Trey Lance when they drafted him, where it went wrong, what happened, took ownership for it not working out and part of that was: In trading him, the Niners free up money, which is important. Almost $1 million this year, $5+ million next year, Dallas inherits all of his remaining salary. Huge factor of this trade + Dallas surrendering the best draft compensation: a 4th round pick.
