UK PM Boris Johnson pushes ahead with Plan B measures

The British Prime Minister says he'll continue to push ahead with 'Plan B' measures despite a record 218,724 COVID cases in the past 24 hours. Under the current restrictions face masks are required in some settings, vaccine passports or negative tests are needed to enter several venues and working from home is recommended. However – Boris Johnson has defended his decision not to impose further measures in wake of the Omicron variant. Health authorities say one in 25 people were infected with COVID-19 last week in England – they are asking residents to get their booster shots.
