STORYLINE: A series of attacks and explosions have taken place across Iraq ratcheting up post-war tensions. Iraqis at the scene of an apparent grenade attack on a US military convoy in Yussifiyeh, 15 kms south-west of Baghdad, on Tuesday reported that three or four soldiers had been killed. Locals told APTN that the bodies had been evacuated by helicopter. US forces have not confirmed the casualties from the incident that occurred at 0500gmt. And in central Baghdad, Iraqi assailants traveling in a vehicle in the Mustansiryah neighbourhood fired a rocket propelled-grenade at a US military vehicle completley destroying it. Iraqi eyewitnesses said they saw two US soldiers being evacuated onto stretchers and they believed the Iraqi translator was killed. The morning patrol was travelling through the city's university district when the attack took place. A huge explosion over the weekend at an ammunitions depot killed at least 15 people and injured at least four near Hadithah, 240 kilometres (150 miles) northwest of Baghdad, officials said Tuesday. Metal scavengers dismantled enormous 155 mm artillery rounds and spread gun powder on the ground at the depot, which housed old Iraqi artillery. Estimates of the dead ranged from 15 to 25.
