Relieved by God's Glory | Lesson Study

Memory text: "And after these things I saw an angel come down from heaven, with great power, and the earth was illuminated by his glory" (Revelation 18:1, OAB). Before long, the final events will unfold. When exactly this will happen and in what way, the Bible is silent about it. However, what has been shown to us is sufficient. Some law enforcing observance, which is in direct opposition to the keeping of the fourth commandment, is going to be enacted. Revelation shows us what issues the end-time crisis is about and who the important players are in it. Broadly, it also shows what will happen. Instead of worshiping the God "who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the fountains of water" (chap. 14:7, OAB) will "all whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world of the Lamb that was slain is not written" (Rev. 13:8, OAB), worship the beast and its image. What does it mean? — that the names of all who have chosen to follow Christ as Lord and Savior, and who obey his commandments, will remain in the book of life. Isn't it better that one's name is recorded with God, rather than with man? God set up the Seventh-day Adventist Church precisely to bring this message to the world. What everyone therefore needs is a personal conversion to the truth as it is expressed in the life and teaching of Jesus; and to live a transformed life, one renewed by the "everlasting gospel" of Revelation 14:6; a gospel that revolves around the atoning death of Christ and the security of salvation that we have in and through Him.
