Mt 12, 38-42 “Master, we want to see you perform a miraculous sign.”

At that time, some scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, "Teacher, we want to see you perform a miraculous sign." He replied, "This wicked and unfaithful people are demanding a sign, but the only sign that will be given to them will be the sign of the prophet Jonah. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so also the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The people of Nineveh will rise up on the day of judgment against this people and condemn them, because they were converted by the preaching of Jonah, and here is someone greater than Jonah. The queen of the south will rise up on the day of judgment against this people and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and here is someone greater than Solomon."
