Following the breakout success of The Death Of Superman and its followup Funeral For A Friend in 1992 (both adapted in a previous episode of this show), each of the four creative teams on the Superman books had a different idea of how to bring him back, and the editors liked them all so much, they decided to do all of them. You'll see four new Supermen of various sorts appear in metropolis, some claiming to be Superman and some not, but all attempting to carry on his legacy, often running afoul of one another and fighting over what it truly means to be Superman. The Last Son Of Krypton is a cold and emotionless avenger with a power level that could only belong to Superman, The Man of Steel is a man with the heart, and possibly the soul of Superman, inside a suit of steel armor, the Cyborg Superman seems to have been reconstructed by aliens with advanced machinery, now truly the man of tomorrow, and the young Superboy is an imperfect clone of Superman, created to replace him in case the worst ever happened. In the end, all their stories will converge to stop a hideous alien plot to turn earth into a new version of the flying fortress known as Warworld, and who the real Superman is will become clear along the way.
