The record-breaking winter storm hit Texas hard in 2021, leaving much of the state under a severe freeze. On the Texas coast, this has resulted in a fish kill with long-term implications yet to be determined. The Rockport shorelines are seeing increasing piles of dead mullet, spotted seatrout, red and black drum, and countless bait fish and mullet. This is a heartbreaking sight, and there is a worry among the state fishermen of what our 2021 fishing season will be. I've seen the social media keyboard warriors attacking each other over who should be fishing and how. We need to let our professionals determine how best to move forward, and be empathetic to each of our parts during this time.
