The 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade of Ukrainian Air Assault Forces have carried out a successful operation against Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group near embattled Pokrovsk in eastern Donetsk region. During the operation, Ukraine’s first-person view drones, known as FPVs, destroyed a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group and saved Ukrainian soldiers from being captured. Four Ukrainian soldiers had been captured by the Russian sabotage group during an assault on an observation post. However, Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance spotted the Russian group, and launched a swarm of strike drones against the adversary. Video footage shared in social media captures drone strikes at Russian troops and the Russian position. The FPV drones disoriented the Russian group, helping the Ukrainian serviceman break free from captivity. The Russian soldiers in the area were eliminated. Ukraine’s use of drones, especially first-person-view, FPV drones, has become one of the defining features of the nearly four-year-war against Russian forces, reshaping how combat unfolds along the front lines and deep behind them. Beyond the immediate battlefield, Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian positions and infrastructure have also carried strategic and symbolic weight. Strikes on supply depots, command posts, and transport routes force Russia to divert resources to air defense and rear-area security, stretching its defenses over a vast area.
