We have now lived full time in our RV for 6 months(6 month nomadversary). We explain to you the top 10 things we learned living full time in our RV so you are better prepared, especially traveling with pets & living in a small space, adaption to all the changes that usually happen, but especially now. Joseph Joseph Cutlery Organizer link: https://amzn.to/34qZfJ6 TOP 10 Things We Have Learned 1. Less is More We bought a 35' fifth wheel but we realize we could have gone smaller & have less stuff with us. 2. Private Parks vs Others Private parks are great for full hookups/amenities like laundry. What we prefer are city, county, state, national or Canada's version of state- provincial parks. They are much more natural 3. Unplug But while in Canada at provincial, we found they don't do water & few have electricity. so we are glad we put solar, have lithium batteries & a small generator 4. Everything Can Break Be ready for something to break. Have some basic tools and know your RV very well. Larry has had to replace awning arms, fix the water pump, fix broken window valances, and a new ding. Also, have some extra money put aside for fixes 5. Adapt Our adaptations. Leaving a large house for a 35' fifth wheel and downsizing. Having months of reservations canceled due to Covid and adapting a mobile home property fit for an RV and staying for two month. Adapting to moving again. Adapting to going to Canada and its mandatory 14 day quarantine- moochdocking for the first time. Then dry camping for the first time at Canada's provincial parks with no hookups at all.Be flexible. You never know what will happen 6. Tiny House, Tight Living/Communicate and Compromise Living in an RV full time with another person- and two dogs- had very specific challenges Now add lock downs and quarantine, we have definitely learned that we need certain things to make this work. Be organized, keep your tiny home clean, and have some alone time/space. Most importantly, make it know what you need. It is tough enough being in a tiny space- release that tension 7. RV Dogs Pets are a major commitment, especially so in an RV. You will have to give up space for dog needs. You will have to adjust your activities if the dogs cant go on that hike or go to that museum. Or shorten your away time. Make sure you have a monitoring device in your RV for temperature. If you have a special needs dog, make sure you have months worth of medication and gear for that. 8. Destination vs Journey Alice prefers to stop and see along the way=journey. Larry prefers to drive straight through with only bathroom breaks- destination. Now I plan ahead exactly what I want to see along the way and Larry picks which ones we can stop for. Communicate your needs. Know you traveling style. 9. Cost More than Expected- at first Expect it will cost more. You never know what will break or what accessories you will need. But with solar, when we can, we will dry camp and save money in the future. 10. Is YouTube worth it? Maybe. Don't do it because it will pay for your full time life. Few channels make that much money. Do it because you enjoy it. Larry enjoys the tech and learning, I enjoy the teaching and sharing. It will change every activity you do. You need to bring camera gear- which can add cost if you don't have it. You may skip a day out to edit hours of video. Plus all the hours I spend on other social media to promote the channel 1.
