Graphs of Polynomial Functions: Polynomial functions are represented as curves on a graph, and their key features include degree, leading coefficient, and behavior at the ends. 2. Local Extrema: Local extrema are points on a function where it reaches a maximum or minimum value within a specific interval. 3. Absolute Extrema: Absolute extrema are the highest and lowest points on a function over its entire domain. 4. Factoring Polynomials: Factoring involves breaking down polynomial expressions into simpler factors, helping in solving equations and understanding function behavior. 5. Multiplicity: Multiplicity refers to how many times a specific root or factor appears in a polynomial, affecting the behavior near that root. 6. Complex Numbers: Complex numbers involve real and imaginary parts, often written as a + bi, where "a" and "b" are real numbers and "i" represents the imaginary unit. 7. Even and Odd Functions: Even functions have symmetry around the y-axis (f(x) = f(-x)), while odd functions have rotational symmetry about the origin (f(x) = -f(-x)). 8. Limit Notation: Limits describe the behavior of a function as it approaches a certain value. Notation like lim(x→a) f(x) = L is used to denote limits. These concepts are fundamental in precalculus and serve as building blocks for more advanced mathematical topics.
