After 10 years of building our homestead, we’re getting ready to leave it behind and start again on a new property. But this time, we’re taking a decade of lessons with us. In today’s video, I’m walking around the ranch and sharing some of the things we got right, the things I would absolutely do differently, and what we’ve learned about building a homestead that actually works for the life you’re trying to live. We’ll talk about our root cellar, fencing and livestock infrastructure, the orchard and forest garden, no-till gardening, greenhouses and season extension, our pantry, and some of the plans we already have for the new farm. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that just because something was once your dream doesn’t mean it has to remain your dream forever. This ranch has served our family incredibly well, but we’re ready for what comes next. And I’m very excited to take you along as we build it all again—hopefully a little wiser this time.
