Basic Measuring of the Radium Scale

The reson for the large drop in radiation when the beta and gamma only cover is on is due to the plastic easily blocking a large portion of the betas, there is no alphas detected in this demonstration. They are all blocked by the plastic bags. Its a super strong radium scale that I took out from an old DP-63-A. It generates a lot of radon gas an it emits a large amount of gamma. I store it in two lead containers. The small one shown and then a bigger one that were not shown in the video. They contain a lot of activated coal which absorbs most of the radon. Remember that when storing such high radon generating sources that everything that is close to it will become contaminated with radon daughters and by that become radioactive.
